Parts of it adapt Babylonian myths such as the story of the flood. But Jeremiah’s strategy turned out ultimately to be a good one. And we might not always choose the same one each time we face it. Um, I do, and it was a little bit ironic in my view for adults to rip off what was a children/family film. Bit more of a sinister dark vibe, given that the usage of stopping time was for criminal gain by our protagonist as opposed to stopping it in the original film.
Girl, Disembodied
The father, the son and the holy toast give a young woman one last chance at redemption, only this ‘back from the dead’ film keeps keeps going wrong meaning the pathway to heaven might need to be re-evaluated. Gorgeous film, from the steadicam footage outside with superb framing and understanding of lighting, to the light prisms and BLADE RUNNER inspired neon fused interiors. The exceptionally done original Vangelis-inspired new wave soundtrack was also absolutely on point as a superhero tries to teleport their way out of entrapment. The pieces of the jigsaw puzzle were expertly put together as our interviewees detailed their backgrounds as couch surfers or coming from old money with just the right touch of hints thrown at viewers for the shape of things to come. Given a much-needed job of delivering a package, a couple of BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD types lazily make their way to the spot to avoid being followed. A very cruisy and casual observation of slob life with our protagonists having CVs that highlighted tagging and public urination as their main skills.

A captain standing up with just himself and his guitar, going for and largely hitting the high notes as a climax. It also contained possibily the most amazing group shoulder bobbing dance collective you will see this side of a toilet paper roll-made periscope. Definite contender for best worst film in Wellington this year. With a plotline of saving a stressed marriage through paranormal reality TV at a haunted lake, things get a bit spooky when wet blanket dark humoured Trevor leaves his wife June alone and she starts hearing voices. How things progress from there are surprising to say the least as passion is rekindled near the kindling stoking the campfire.
Maybe the Last Time
I wouldn’t be surprised if a team registered under the name “Millennial Fuckery” next year. What a delight it was to call Everything Sticks and let them know they’d made it through to the city finals, especially with what is their best film yet. I didn’t really understand the story, but that’s relatively normal for an Aaron’s film. Some funny gags throughout, I think the highlight was the credits song, or the photo of me because I’m a narcissist. I think I somewhat echo the bewildered reviews above, there are some ideas happening in this movie, some I can make out, some I cannot.
