Our newest competition was centred around foiling. Foiling is a technique which allows you to transfer metallic colour from cellophane onto practically any surface. It is the perfect way to add a bit of shine to your design.

How to Foil:

  1. Iron on Bondaweb shapes or paint adhesive onto fabric and let dry. This usually takes 15-30 minutes depending on the adhesive.
  2. Place foil on Bondaweb/adhesive (metallic side down) and iron at 180°C. Alternatively you can sprinkle glitter foil onto the adhesive.
  3. Peel off excess foil in one direction when cooled.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 for any touch ups.

All Little Hands Design students are eligible to enter the competition.

It does not matter your age or how long you’ve been sewing. As usual, the competition winners will be decided by an outside industry judge.  We are grateful for the support of  Michelle Huberman, CEO of Tonertex Foils , who has supplied us with everything we needed and even ran a workshop for our students.

For inspiration take a look at our Pinterest board where we have pinned a few of our favourite foiled creations and our youtube channel with some helpful clips on foiling.
